Sponsored by East Tennessee Foundations Arts Fund

Ancient Rhythms teaches your students about Native American culture and history by learning to play the flute. This program will feature a performance with instruction by Native American Music Awards winning Cherokee flutist, Randy McGinnis, and lessons from the Smoky Mountain Flute Circle. By the end of the day, students will have heard a wonderful performance, learned about Cherokee culture and the history of the flute, and will have received and decorated their own flute, and learned to play a song.

Teachers, below you will find materials to use before and after we visit your school. These will prepare your students for the program and provide ways to incorporate the flute in your classroom after the program ends. For information on painting the flutes visit “Painting Your Flute.”

Thanks to the generous support of the East Tennessee Foundation, this program is FREE to most area schools! There is limited time available so please book early!

This program is designed for grade levels 3-5.
